Post by firetruck11 »

If I tune my 2011 Ram 1500 to the Perf 93 and use 91 (I live in AZ, and 91 is the highest we have) will it hurt my truck??? I know the 93 tune gives the best performance and thats what I want...... advice?? Thanks guys-

I'm successfully doing this in my 5.7 hemi charger, but I'm at 5800 feet altitude.

If you run the 93 tune, data log looking for any knocks. If lots of knocks, then go back to 91 tune (or adjust the 93 tune). If no knocks, then I'd say you're fine.

Its gonna knock, no doubt. I bet its knocking on 91. Hemis knock. You can NEVER run a higher octane tune on lower octane gas (except at altitude).

I'm using 91 octane on the 91 Tune.....I don't really hear a knock at all....what would be causing a knock?

Knock is not audible. The knock sensors will pull timing a long time before its audible to human ears. If you can hear it with your ears, start saving, because the motor is on borrowed time. You'll need at least pistons, probably more, very soon.

Nope, can't hear anything so I must be okay for now....(knocking on wood, no pun intended)

Are you guys familiar with the WOT? How can I add more fuel for more power? Any settings you reccomend?

Thanks,

Jerry-

You can't just guess how much to add. You need to do logging, see what the motor is doing. Adding fuel isn't gonna make more power unless its needed to quench knock.
