Magnaflow Catback exhaust

Post by tmalsack »

When I had the Magnaflow exhaust system installed someone in the forum said to leave out the "suitcase" portion and just run the pipes to the rear mufflers. Today I ran across a post that said I needed the catback part in for back pressure or I loose HP? Can someone please advise me on this? Thanks for all of you out there with such a wealth if information for us mechanically challenged! :?

The Hemi needs back pressure or horsepower drops. If you don't have headers, it doesn't really matter what you do with the catback. The manifolds and cats will give you more then enough backpressure. You'll lose some torque down low due to the decreased velocity, but will pick up horsepower on the top end.

What'd the dyno end up showing? I wouldn't think the shorties or Flowmaster would do much, but the cats probably did.
