Can't Read CEL Code

One of the main reasons I liked the Trinity is that it advertised being an OBD II reader. Today I tried to read a check engine light on my 2006 Ford E350 and no luck. I had to take the vehicle in to have the code read/cleared (PO 401 EGR Insufficent Flow Detected). Is there any reason why it shoudn't be able to read this code?
