inTune not recognized by WINDOWS XP

Post by 157dB »

I just got my inTune. :D
When I plug it into my computer (WINDOWS XP) the computer wants
to connect to the internet to find the appropriate 'install software' for
the 'inTune'. My home computer is not hooked up to the internet. :(
Are there some WINDOWS XP inTune driver files that I need?
Nothing is happening like the quick start guide shows.
There are no new drives in Windows Explorer.
How do I get my home computer to recognize the inTune
when it is plugged into the USB port?

I hooked the inTune to a internet computer at work and the
"inTune updater" took off updating the unit. :D

Now it wants me to register but I believe the PIN code eMail
is ending up being tossed into the spam filter. Now what?

When I powered up the inTune and checked the as-shipped
firmware there are 'missing files' for the FORD and GM Tunes.
Not to mention the files for DODGE are not even listed...
It knows it is 'missing' two files. How many files are missing
that it does not know about? Whats the 'complete' list of
files my inTune SHOULD have?

APPLICATION 1r02d
DCX Tune Db 1r01b
FORD Tune Db missing
GM Tune Db missing
DCX PID Db 1r01a
FORD PID Db 1r01a
GM PID Db 1r01a
DTC Db 1r01a
VIN Db 1r01a
Info Db 1r01b

BORN 09/10/2012
SERIAL # CIIOH5A-1

Thanks...

Yes, I believe I have administrator privileges.
Its my personal laptop and not internet connected.
I left the I1000 connected for a couple of hours and
still no CD rom or USB in windows explorer.
I have been into the computers since
the days of 286es and DOS 6.2.
Not sure whats going on here.

I copied the cd-rom folder on the inTune to a flash
drive on the internet capable work computer and
I will see if inTune.exe will run from the flash drive
on the laptop at home.

Current versions after update:

APPLICATION 1r03a
DCX Tune Db 1r01b
FORD Tune Db 1r01g
GM Tune Db 1r01m
DCX PID Db 1r01a
FORD PID Db 1r01a
GM PID Db 1r01a
DTC Db 1r01a
VIN Db 1r01b
Info Db 1r01b

BORN 09/10/2012
SERIAL # CIIOH5A-1

I also cant use the inTune because I cant register it.
Not everyone has an eMail address...
This need to be connected to the internet
should have been fully explained somewhere
on your website so I could be an informed
consumer. :x

its all up to date now.

Most electronic devices these days will use an email for registration, but its not like you are out in the cold...registration is not required to use the tool at all, and if you post a copy of the info.xml file from the intune drive here, i will make you a registration file for your tool.

I guess I have to ask...how is it you have been 'into computers' that long, and don't have an email address? :)

I had eMail and found it to be more trouble than its worth.
It also costs an arm and a leg.
I would rather buy items like $390 vehicle tuning devices. :D

you can set up an @gmail.com, @hotmail.com, @yahoo.com email address in about 3 minutes, and its all free, forever, and ever :)

drag/drop the attached file to the intune drive and the tool will be registered ;)

Internet service costs money hence no internet at the homestead.
When dial up 56K went by the roadside, I also went dark.

Thanks for the registration.
I was expecting the info.xml file.

Drag and drop into what drive/folder?

OK, the ROOT DIRECTORY of the USB inTune drive it is.
Now how about this...

QuickView wont run on my home computer.
I get the following error message when I run the exe file:

The procedure entry point EncoderPointer could not be
located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll

So much for using my laptop to view recorded logged parameters...

When I run the inTune.exe off of my C: drive
on the non-internet accessible laptop at home,
I get the error message that there are no
inTune devices connected or detected even
though it is connected and windows tried to
install the drivers for it.

I guess this works for everyone but me?
So I cant use this with my home laptop?
Is it the laptop or the lack of internet service?

I also cant find any support for the Analog
input other than where it is located.
Not the connector type, or the pin-out,
or even how to set it up to work with
my A/F meters 0-5V output.

Any help with that?

I have yet to plug it into either my 07 Mustang or my 09 Challenger...
They are both primed and loaded with 93 Mobil...

well, the intune.exe is of no use without internet access, so...I guess its a moot point :)

Connector type?
Pin-out of said connector?
You sell these connectors?
RadioSnack?

3/32" stereo plug?
Tip channel 1, ring channel 2 and sleeve ground?

The COMPLETE users manual is very vague.
More for the casual user and not the pro...

So I cant use this with my home laptop?
Is it the laptop or the lack of internet service?

Seems I am only getting about 1/2 of the functions
available to the general consumer. But paying full price...

what is it you wish to do with the laptop exactly?

the intune.exe is for auto updates, which you cant get without internet.

connector:

you can order the cable from our online store.

Which functions do you feel you are not getting exactly?

Thanks

The data log viewing with the laptop. Could I be missing this?
Unless you can view the recorded data from the inTune directly...

And why does the inTune connect to the internet EVERYTIME
I plug it into the work computer?
Because it is not registered yet?
It goes thru its updating thing everytime I plug it in at work.
This takes 20 minutes sometimes ti finish...
