New Predator owner - basic questions

Hey all, I just bought the Predator U7135 for my 300c, but need to update my vehicle (according to my predator)
I think this means I need to update my predator by downloading some update from diablosport.com
I dont have a power cable to plug the Predator into the wall, so can I use the car to power it while I update it from my laptop? Is this safe? Thanks!
