Tune Adjustment Order?

I plan on updating my tune this afternoon and wanted to get some insight. I'm still running the crom that came out in Nov and want to be able to modify some things that were not available with that version, mainly MDS. I had a hellish time the first time around where my car locked up and needed a dealer reflash, so I'm just trying to be safe this time around.

I understand that the -18 error code has to do with making adjustments while loading the tune, so my plan was to do the following.

1. Install new tune (flashing back to stock and then updating Trinity first)
2. Make adjustments to tune, which will install it again.
3. Make further adjustments via QA menu

Is this the safest route? Should I do QA changes first or doesn't it matter. Again, I want to disable MDS and hear conflicting info on whether this works yet or not, so if not, I will just wait as the other changes aren't as improtant to me right now and I would rather do everything at the same time.

MDS works fine, and has no bearing on the -18 issues.

Avoid QA changes before/during the tune loading process, then make any QA changes after the tune is in, you have it correct.

It's been a few days since I tried and all is well. I was really hesiatant on changing anything in the tunes after going through those issuses back in November. I didn't end up needing to use the QA menu as pretty much everything there was able to be modified in the tune itself. And I must say, no MDS and fimer shifts are a beatiful thing. My days of doubting are over. You guys rock!
