09 Challenger R/T MDS Issue

Post by jjdobbert »

After loading the 91 octane tune with the MDS turned off and shift firmness higher the car still feels like the MDS is working. It also says fuel saver mode on the dash. Any ideas to correct this?

The tune has made a big increase in response. The main reason I bought the tuner was to turn off the annoying MDS.

In the owners manual this is what it reads...Vehicles with the 5.7 Multi-Displacement System may be equipped with the Fuel Saver Mode in the Trip Functions of the EVIC. The Fuel Saver Mode message will display above the average fuel economy in the EVIC display. This message will appear whenever the MDS allows the engine to operate on four cylinders, which will vary depending on driving habits and vehicle usage.

I can feel and hear the engine dropping into MDS while driving. At the same time it goes into MDS mode that fuel saver message pops up.

It may say in the tune that it has turned it off but the MDS is still working. I hope you can help me out with this issue.

Ok went on a trip this past weekend. On the way down to the Key West the MDS was still on. At the hotel took out the tuner put back the original tune and drove around for a day. It felt the same as far as the MDS situation but sluggish again. Next morning put the 91 Octane tune in with MDS turned off. Now the MDS does not come on the fuel saver light also does not come on and the car is a joy to drive on the highway. Not sure why it did not work the first time but it is working great now :D .
