Throttle sticking. Very dangerous. Please help.

Post by Zammit »

Hi.

I have a 2006 5.7L 300c RWD. It has a procharger P1SC1 unit, with long tube headers and mopar exhaust.
I have a problem with the throttle sticking. On several occasions, the situation was very dangerous on the road. I need your help quite urgently. Procharger can't help me any further. I also have other problems:

1. Today we ran the car on the dyno and emulated the road condition. At full throttle then release, the revs remain at speed and I have to put it in neutral to re-gain control of the car. On the dyno, when we "blip" the throttle, the revs gradually slow down, and I mean gradually. I attached a video clip of the dyno session. Please watch it.
We compared the pre-supercharger install tune to the one procharger sent me, and we can't see any difference with ECT. Maybe we are looking in the wrong place. I attached both files.

2. The tune is set to rev limit at 5800rpm. We can only get to 5400rpm. Please see the attached dyno chart.

3. I am getting 390hp at the rear wheels. With my configuration, I should be exceeding 400hp. Again, please see the dyno chart. This may be related to the rev limit issue.

I appreciate you help. Thanks.

Try this file, power is not much we can do about, long tubes do drop boost, so maybe thats it.

Hi Johan.

I have the rear O2 sensors disconnected, because of the long tube headers. I loaded your updated code and I'm getting errors for the O2 heaters, specifically p0058 h025 heater control circut high voltage bank 2 sensor 2, and p0038 h025 heater control circut high voltage bank 1 sensor 2.
Can you please adjust the tune to disable the rear O2 sensors. The file I posted yesterday has them disabled. Many thanks.

are they not plugged in?

thats not something we can fix for you, you'll need to get with a cmr tuner for that, we just wanted to make sure the car did not drive into a wall ;)

The rear sensors are in the pipes, but the wiring loom doesn't reach, so they are unplugged. I've had them like this for a few years without an issue. I thought about reconnecting them by extending the loom from the engine bay side, but the performance shops I've spoken to who had installed headers said it wasn't worth it since the sensors are disabled in the tune. If you believe otherwise, then please advise.

If you can't set the values to what I had in my original tune, then I'll do it next time I visit my performance specialist. I have the tuning software, but I left the laptop is at his place.

Can you advise what changes you made to overcome the throttle issue? I'd like to know what you found which may be the root cause.

Thanks.

Im not sure what he changed....if the O2s are removed, it will be a lot of work to get all the codes to go away, id figure out a way to plug them back in.

Thanks Mike.

I will compare the before and after tunes and make the necessary changes to disable the rear O2 sensors.

I would really like to know what Johan did. I keep track of tune changes to see what works and what doesn't. Can you please ask him? I will appreciate it.

Thanks again.

Hi Mike & Johan.

I applied the tune and everything has been fine since. No more delayed throttle. It drives smoother too. Thanks.
I have three questions for you:

1. On the dyno, we see a spark drop at 3100rpm to 3300rpm. I attached the print out. Can you see what's causing it in the attached tune?

2. In the CMR v4.9.0.1 application, does it have a setting for the wheel and tire size? I can't find it but maybe it's there somewhere under an obscure folder. Setting the wheel/tire diameter using the U7135 either doesn't work or doesn't save it. Every time I check it, the values read standard.

3. I have an intune i1000 unit which I received with the procharger kit. It's still in the box; never used. Can my custom tunes for the U7135 be used and saved in the intune?

Thanks for all your help. Much appreciated.

1. You'll have to do some logging and figure out whats leading to the spark loss, likely knock.

2. Bo, tire and gear are not part of the calibration, they can only be done through the tools quick adjust menu.

3. The tunes would have to be reformatted for the inTune, you could post a copy of the vehicles stock backup file from the intune and the predator custom tune and we can convert it for you.

Thanks
