Hello,
just ordered the 1000-dcx fro my 12 charger r/t. I have been following the forum and read many required updates required. Are these updates completed on new tools before they are sent out?

we update them, but there is no telling how long ago they left here, you will need a laptop...

So there is an initial update to perform and upload? what is the minimum but safe specs on a cpu req'd..? Best buy here I come...

Any windows laptop will be fine to run the application. When you connect the tuner with the USB, it shows up as another folder on your hard drive. The application is supposed to auto start, but if it doesnt, look in the folder to a .exe file and run that with the tuner connected.

I have the same car and mine worked fine. The software checks the tuner and if a update is needed it gets from DS and downloads it.
