02 Mustang V6 Problems

Post by SntPanic »

I bought a predator second hand from a guy with a 01 Mustang GT

I plugged the tune in and checked for the "last tune" it said the factory tune had been installed last.

I went to install the Diablo Tune and it said that it was not made for my car, and that the tune was not installed.

I have a 02 v6 automatic. I looked to see if maybe this was the wrong tuner, but on the back the white sticker just says "MUSTANG" and there is a bar code.

Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Can you use the Predator to get the cars calibration ID and please also post the revision on the Predator.

It sounds like this Predator is an old revision and needs to be updated. Plug the Predator in and when it gets to the main menu after booting, at the very top it will give you a Revision # what does that say? If it's not v.7r50d then you need to update the Predator to the latest revision. You can get the update from the following page. http://www.diablosport.com/index.php?mo ... lay&pid=14
Thank You

v.7r50d

CALID: RTAJ0FZ

I went down to the local shop who I beleive is still an authorised dealer with you, and talked to their tune tech, he said that once that tune has been put in a car it burns its "ID" into the predator.

I checked to see what the last tune was on it before I messed with it and it said "STOCK HP TUNE"

If I cannot get this to function is there anyway I could send it in and have it wiped and have the tunes installed over again, without having to pay $400?

When you say last tune written reads 'stock hp tune', do you really mean it says 'factory HP tune'?
If it says factory HP tune, the tool is locked to another car and in order to unlock it, the tune must be restored to the car it is married to.

I must apologize, as I did not mention that we do have a trade in program available through our sales department. Please contact them if you are interested in trading your locked tool in for a new unit.

Dunno man, I don't mean to bash anything or something like that, I've got alot of friends who went with diablo, if it was possible to correct it I'd spend a little more cash and send it in to get it fixed without having to spend an extra $300. I didn't ebay it or anything, I bought it from a local friend who sold his car about 6 months ago, and the cars engine isn't in one peice..

It was his misunderstanding thinking that the "Stock HP Tune" or whatever it is meant that it returned his stock tune. I do know that Diablosport offers a $100 buy back thing, but I also know of another company who happens to do the same buy back, but they offer a different tuner.

I'm just slightly aggrivated, for multiple reasons, and a little discouraged. I guess it was because the local shop that specifically does "Diablo Predator Dynotunes" said I should be able to send it in or get a tune to overwrite it all and return it back to how it was.

I know its a safety issue so the company doesn't get scammed, but the way I was thinking was "hey i'll be able to send it in to them, they can check it out, and see that the diablo tune is there and they'll recorrect, maybe even charge me like a hundred bucks or so"

Basically, I'd be spending another $300 on just a tune, I've got the program, I've got the OBDII on it, I just can't get the tune. Kinda aggrivating.

Thanks for your patience and help though. I appreciate it.

I see where you are coming from here, but there are some policies that we cannot bend.
As you are aware, your buddy made a simple mistake, but, had he consulted his owners manual, he would have seen that there is a foolproof method listed for restoring the backup to the car. This is the ONLY way to reuse ANY of our Ford Predators.
I'm sorry that your local shop mislead you, there is alot of misinformation concerning this policy.
In the future, I would advise anyone considering buying a used Predator, to call us before making the purchase.
We would be glad to take you through all of the positive and possible negative things associated with the purchase.

Thanks

Only positives was the possibility of not having to spend $400 and getting the tune, negative, well I've ran into all of the negative. What I imagined was possible was being able to send it in, let you all take a nice gander at it, see what tune is on, and reset it. You can't/won't so thats fine (I'm saying can't for the fact that there is a buy-back program, and I don't see anyone just tossing them into the dumpster, I see the program being reset and retuned most likely)

I appreciate the time and patience with me, again, but unless the buy-back is more then $100 I won't be using a diablo, I'll be finding that out shortly however.
