I just installed the 93 Tune from Diablo and have a AEM drop filter and Borla Atak. When I step on it hard I do not hear any knock of any kind just the intake whistle sound. Should I have to data log I am concerned about all these guys with St knock / Lt knock. If I don't hear anything does that mean I am good.

You will never hear knock with your ears. If you do then the motor is as good as gone. The knock sensors hear it and pull timing way before it breaks anything. It can only retard timing upto 12 degrees though. Then you're screwed. Log it and adjust the tune to get rid of the knock.

I have seen up to 14 on my 5.7 Ram.. Still ran fine.

I also heard knock on cold starts. Now detonation is something different.

OP,
Its always a good thing to monitor your knock retard. It will let you know how your vehicle responds to different octane and even different gas stations.

May have run fine, but have you checked the pistons since then? I bet they're burnt to a crisp on top, if you're lucky. If not, there will be pieces missing around the edges or in the middle.

This was caused by knock

I have seen the horror stories but I think if I had a hole in my piston I would have noticed it lol.

I was just commenting on you saying 12 is the max.

Thats not the max KR you can get, but thats the max timing the computer can pull. After that, the pistons take the beating.

Its not certain that you'd realize it either. I've chipped pistons on multiple engines and didn't know it until the tear down. Thats why I finally bought a borescope so I could check them through the spark plug holes.

What about the fuel trim?

If it goes past 12 it wont also pull/add fuel?
