Am I Interpreting the Output Correctly?

Post by nuke »

I have been trying to verify the quality of some 93 octane gasoline the local stations sell by using the DataViewer application and logs written with the tuner during WOT runs.

My thought was that if I see evidence of knock and spark being pulled, the gasoline was not up to snuff and should not be run with the Diablo tune (or run with the 91 octane tune instead).

Based upon my interpretation of the DataViewer output, I believe the 93 octane gas is not really 93 octane or is of poor quality and should not be used where 93 is required. However, I realize my interpretation of the output may be incorrect. So I am hoping someone on the DiabloSport team could verify my hypothesis, or if I am wrong, point out how and what I should be looking for instead.

I have attached a screenshot of one of the logs I am viewing with the DataViewer which I recorded during a 0-60 run. Because I see feedback on the KNK ST RETARD, I am assuming the PCM is retarding spark timing due to knock. Is that a correct interpretation of that output?
