2012 Challenger SRT 91 tune

Post by brandy16 »

I loaded the 91 tune on a 2012 Challenger SRT-392 crom 1r10. Car ran really good but when I got back to the house I noticed that the fans were on. Temp was 205 degrees and the fans should have been off. I let it idle for about 5 min but the fans would not shut off. I put the stock tune back in and the fans were off. Any ideas on what's going on. I want to keep the tune in the car but not if the fans will not shut off. The car is completely stock. no mods at all.

Ok Thanks. Shouldent they shut down at some point I have the factory thermostat so its not going to make much differance cause the stat is still going to be closed until it reachs the stat temp. My concern was that they would not shut off. I will load the tune again and see if they do shut down at some point. I dont want to burn up my fan motors from them running all the time and not shutting off at all. Thanks.

They're actually rated for 100,000 hours. Thats way more than 100k miles unless you're going 1mph.

You burn them up because they are not a continus duty motor. If they run all the time you will burn them up. My question was at what temp should they be turning off with the 91 tune on a 2012 challenger SRT-8. Thank you

Im not sure why you think that...trust me, Dodge would not put fans in your car that would require replacement for any reason, it does not make fiscal sense. What if you live in the desert? You have the same fans that the cars in the middle east get, and they run in temps of 100* plus all day....I bet their fans never shut off, even with the stock tunes :)

Just put a 93 canned tune in. My fan runs run all the time now and it is only 40 degrees out. Going to put a lower thermostat in but I would like to know what the on and off temps are on a 2012 srt8 . The fans do come on at a lower temp and wonder if it is a setup for the 180 degree stat? If you ever find out what the 91 and 93 tune has changed them to, let me know. I dont care what anyone says , the fan should not run until it goes so many degrees over the stat temp. Fans running all the time is not good since it takes gas to run them and going down the road they should be off, especially for fuel mileage as they are coupled with the factory stat temp.
