Wishful thinking - Predator vs CROM compatibility

Post by Ol Blue »

Hello,

I bought a used Predator U7135.
Serial No. d002704,
Part u7135u7135
Born 01/26/2009
Hardware: unknown
It came with CROM V8r17 and have currently loaded CROM v9r12.

In order to program my '05 300C 5.7L AWD, I had to "update" the car's CALID which started about a 2 hour panic full of invalid file notifications, and ultimately a bricked tool that would not boot. Thanks to this forum, all is good again, the car is programmed "slightly" and still runs!!! :D

Finally, to the question:
It seems as though this tool was made after (but just slightly) the 1/22/09 creation of CROM 9r12, so I'm "hoping" that later CROMS can be loaded into this tool even though the hardware doesn't state "UNV_REV2". ??

If not, is there an option of sending the unit to you (DiabloSport) for a memory upgrade so it will work?

Thank you
Rob

Thank you.......for the bad news! :lamer: :D

Unfortunately, there's more invested in purchasing this older unit than that. I knew it going into the deal, but didn't realize there were different versions of the tool.

I have read about "light" versions for the older tools. Now, I've tasted "light" mayonnaise, "light" salad dressings, and even "light half-n-half" (they called it fat free half-n-half!!!!!) I didn't overly find them very good. IF, there is a light version of the latest (I think it's v9r30) what is missing? Is it worth having the latest and greatest offering since there will not be any further support for the Predator? Someday, I "might" end up with an '09 or '10 for some of the interior electronic creature features.

Thanks again!

The L versions just have the 09-10 CROMS added. Theres nothing extra for earlier years other than the throttle booster.

A big thank you both for the prompt replies.

if you get a 09-10 then load 9r30l, you'll have all the latest stuff.

Hi again,

Thank you. It looks like you responded on this same subject on May 20 in the following:

I saved that attachment for possible "future" use on an '09 or '10 300C.

The support you offer for your product is fantastic. Thank you very much.
