Intune connects with USB, but nothing with OBDII Cable

I have an intune that is unmarried to any car at this time. Its born on date is 9/10/12. It plugs up to my computer via usb without any problems to update; however, when I put the obdII cable in it will not even start up when connected to a car. I used it a week ago to clear a code on my car and it worked fine via obdII. I removed the cable after I used it to store it. Now when I plug the cable into the obdII the intune does not come on. It only comes on via usb/computer. Any suggestions? The cable was rolled for storage like it came new a couple of years ago, it was not squeezed or pinched. It has been tried on two cars and no response.
