How long will it take to download the intune to my ford ecoboost?

under 2minutes as long as it doesn't have to do a calibration update. If it has to do that will be around 15 minutes. After it's done will go back down to under 2minutes form then on.

What about when it's copying the vehicle information?

dont read from the vehicle, let the tool download it from the PC, its way faster.

Oh maybe we were referring to another part of the process. To ge the backup just do as litsch said and download the backup form the pc. Do not read from the vehicle as that is time consuming and unecesary.

Just plug it in to the vehicle with key on and then once it checks your vehicle will ask what tune you want to load then will ask to read or donwload the original backup. There's no reason to read it just download it form the intune updater when plugged into PC. Then go back to vehicle and continue following the prompts on the screen and post up if you have any other questions.

Ok so when I install the tune it saves a copy of my vehicle info then downloads a tune. I am theoretically done unless I want to view the stock file. Then I could either read it while plugged in to the vehicle or plug it into a pc (preferred method).

Steps are as follows:

1. plug into vehicle
2. select tune you want to install
3. it will ask you to read download (hit download so it comes from pc)
4. once done with that go back to vehicle and confirm tune you selected earlier
5. then will read into the tool what it downloaded from the PC
6. then will ask you to modify the tune (for tires and gears etc... if you haven't changed anything then do not use this just hit "X")
7. Then will ask to install tune, hit check mark
8. it will install and go to 100% once done it will ask you to turn the key off then back to on position
9. Should say installed successfully you may drive vehicle now. You can then unplug.

Done.

It's important to note that you only have to download from the PC 1 time and form then no longer need to do this and can change between tunes as you please.

That is for a custom tune though right? The programmer comes with canned tunes already, does it not? I guess I'm missing why I would need to hook it up to the pc unless I am doing a update, custom tune or to read the vehicle file

it will try to read the backup and take 45 minutes in the truck, or you can simply download the backup when prompted to and it takes 30 seconds, its up to you ;)

I guess I'm still baffled on why I need to hook it up to the pc if I only want to install the tune.

I guess I'm dumb. Sorry

I might understand now. Are you saying plug the programmer into the truck and a laptop at the same time?

no

plug it in, read the screen, and when it asks, choose the option to read from the PC, not the truck.

Ok. After I choose that it will go through and write the tune to the truck .

after you let it download the stock tune from the PC, you go back to the truck and it will let you load a tune.
