Hello, I just bought a Predator U1375 and was wondering if there is any real benefit from upgrading to version r30 from r29? Thanks!

Great! Heading down now to hook it up and install the 91 tune. Wish me luck, but hopefully I won't need it

Secondary update. It would seem my computer is refusing to recognize the predator and will not install the driver device. 
Am I missing something (literally and figuratively)?

The update it wants you to download is an update for the car, not the tuner.
If it won't find the tuner, something isn't right. USB driver needs to be installed. Is the computer running in Administrator Mode?
