Issues with F150 Raptor tune

Post by Yamajee »

Hello all,

Car is a 2012 Ford F150 Raptor 6.2L SVT.

I recently got a Diablo Trinity tuner and decided to just tune the car with the "91 octane" tune that comes with the trinity itself. Anyways, I made sure the trinity got updated at first to the latest update and then I also made sure that I have followed the right steps to do all the tuning. I chose the "91 octane" tune that came up on the screen. Once I started up the car after I put on the 91 octane tune, I decided to go for a WOT run and I was just confused and scared at the same time. The shifting points and pressure were very scary! I thought my driveshaft or diff are gonna break! I decided to modify the tune and the shifting pressure was set to STOCK already! I've restored the original backup of the car as I'm not really impressed with anything in this tune, the shifting points are different, the shifting pressure is so scary... even my remote wouldn't work on locking and unlocking the car sometimes if it's on the 91 tune. Any clue what this is and if I made a mistake on buying this tuner? the car driving just doesn't feel right once it's on that tune even when just cruising.. :crashing:

Read out your last tune written and original backup with dsdownloader and post them here.

Here you go.

Car has a CAI and ford racing cat-back exhaust, not seeing any problems with the engine as much as the transmission shifting and the remote locking.

Tried the tune, gave it a few days. 1-2 smooth, 2-3 even worse than before, 3-4, 4-5 and 5-6 are smooth. 2-3 is the problem, what's the issue here?

Already went to original backup right after I posted the issue and it won't let me do it. Either ways, I'm not happy at all with this and I think I wasted $590.

The last time I had someone report this, the transmission oil temp sensor was bad.

2-3 is stock.

Doubt that as the car is always serviced at the dealership and I haven't got any DTCs nor do I see the trans temp being weird.

Nothing changed, gave it a full day, same. I'm done with this thanks for the help though, never recommending this for anyone else.

According to my knowledge at least if it's a bad oil temp sensor it would do the hard shifting even with a stock tune, the gear shifting is just heaven when the car is on the stock tune but hell when it's on ANY tune I was provided by both the trinity itself and you guys. All I asked for was a tune with no changes to the gear at all, you provided me with more than 1 tune and not a single difference have I seen from both the trinity itself's tunes and your tunes, please tell me that is a bad oil temp sensor too?

I just had the car major serviced because I thought the gear jerking and shifting was because of the oil + filter, I've had everything changes like spark plugs, belts, engine, gear and diff fluids and so on. I'm not convinced with the oil temp sensor being bad, I've decided to throw it away, thank you for your help.

Considering the changes I provided you with it would be hard to not see any differences, one of them was stock. The only thing I can come up with is the way the tune was being loaded to the tool. After you hit send tune to tool it asks for a file, which will be the custom tune. Then it will ask for a second file, which did you select then? It should have been the original back up. If it was not the tune would never change from what it was

It asks for the original backup as the second file and I do upload the original backup. Hell, I've even attached the exact same file for you in this response. The differences I meant was that there is no improvement in the gear shifting firmness, I can totally tell the tune is different even when starting the car but, all the tunes are the exact same when it comes to the shifting firmness, the gear just feels weird and the shifting is horrible not to mention back-hurting. It gets worse minute by minute on any tune, it came to a point where the shift really jerks the car and the tires bark.

the tune cant change over time, this is sounding to me as if there is a physical issue here as well.
