Are the tunes that come with the Trinity set up for stock

Post by DavidsChargerR/T »

I was wondering if the Trinity Tunes that come with the unit are set up for the stock from the Factory car. I had thought that you could modify the tune a bit for say some common modifications like a CAI or a Cat Back Exhaust. Correct me if I am wrong, the way I see it now when you make a change to the car like a CAI or Exhaust change like a Cat Back Exhaust, Headers or High Flow Cats one will have to have a CRM Tuner write a custom tune to cover it? I guess we are limited to making some minor adjustments to spark and air to fuel mixture.
I still think the Trinity is an excellent Tool and maybe having an experienced Tuner write a Tune for a Trinity Owner is safer for the Owner and his Vehicle. If the Trinity Owner was able to go willy nilly making major changes I suppose there is a chance he could do some serious damage to his engine.
Have a great day and thanks for a great device.....

I am under the assumption the can tunes are only good for stock cars. I saw horsepower gains using the tuner wen my car was stock , but running cat less mids and a cai nothing happens wen I run the modified stock or the 91 I get the same horse power and tq. actually I loose power wen running the can 93 tune now on my car with the mods I have. the knock sensors kick in and no matter if I advance timing or retard timing or add fuel or take away fuel I always get about the same results give or take 3 to 5 hp and 5tq.

stock to mildly modified, yes, once you mod more, custom tuning should be considered.

Mike, I am going from Bully Dog to the Trinity 1000, it will be in on Monday. The reason for my change was due to the fact the I couldn't adjust for for aftermarket add ons. I have the Bully Dog which will be for sale, 87mm throttle body, BBK shorty headers, Vararam intake, and Borla exhaust, will your can tunes allow me to get the most out of those parts? or will you need to build a custom tune for me?

Well my truck never ran right until the custom tune, it kept pulling timing, probable had knock, but Sean got me lined out with his 93 octane custom tune, night and day from the 93 octane tune installed.
