So I'm trying to get ready for my tune from Lew. I downloaded all the software and got a serial cable. I can't get the program to see the tuner. I'm following the instructions in the program:

Power up tuner
Plug in serial cable
Start DSDownloader

Once the program opens it says, "searching for tuning device" or something to that effect, but apparently is not finding it because it won't go beyond that point.

Any ideas?

you need to install the driver for the USB to serial cable.

I'm using a straight serial to serial cable. And I checked and my serial drivers are up to date. Maybe I'll try getting a serial to USB and try it that way.

Ok, I got it. I got a serial to usb cable and it works fine. Just got my tune back from Lew!
