used i tune 1000 no receit nor was it registered

i have a 2001 camaro ls1 and a guy wants to sell me his i tune 1000 that he bought roughly 6 months ago and has no receipt nor did he register it when he bought it. i was wandering if i can still log data and get custom tunes as well does the i tune 1000 have the option to adjust speed limiter on my 2001 camaro ls1. thanks
