Oh Great... Contrast dial knob broke off!

Hey guys, so I pick up my Predator over the weekend and there was a rattle that was new... looking thru the blue plastic I see a gear looking plastic deal... Long story short, I have NO idea how but my Contrast dial knob came off!
Tech support this morning email me with ok news, and thats that I can send it in to what the dial fixed for $99...
So I have a couple questions...
1) So the base (white part) of the dial looks to be Soldered with 3 points extending thru the board... Is this dial replaced as easy as un solder the one, replace, done?
2) Is there any other possible way to repair this?
