Can't upate U7135

Hi guys, purchased an unmarried dsp from a friend and this is my first time trying to update it. Downloaded the CROM and the DS downloader. Whenever i click update tool it just stops responding. My computer is on windows 7 and i have the correct driver. The DSP version is V.9r28. I saw that some people need to purchase a different cable. Could that be my issue? I also read that some of the older DSPs can only be updated so far. Could this scenario apply to me? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What year is the car you're trying to use it on? If its got 9r28, it can be updated to 9r30. The older ones can't go past 9r12. The question is, is there any reason to update it. The newest updates only add support for newer cars, so if you don't have a 2009 or 2010, theres no reason to update it.

My 300c is a 2008. Good news that i do not need the newer update. The DSP prompts me to update the tool when i plug it in though. If its just as simple as hitting escape i'm going to feel like a real idiot haha. Thank you for your response, i'm gonna go home and try tonight. I'll take a picture of the screen if it doesn't allow me to escape/load the tune.

Is it telling you to update the tool, or update the car? Two different things. Info on updating the car can be found at www.diablosport.com/dcx

Its telling me to update the vehicle. Thank you for the link, i see that now on the tool as well. Confused that for a tool update vs vehicle update. Thanks again for your replies and help.

I have a 2010 Challenger manual transmission. My friend is letting me try his Predator U7135 v.9r28. I am reading that I need to update it but my computer can't see the predator when I plug it in. I have downloaded the utility from the web site. I am using the USB cable my friend gave me for it. Do I need another kind of cable?
