I am trying to limit high Rev when towing with Tow/Haul and Cruise Control on.
When going up hills truck downshifts twice and revs almost to red line.

I reduce Rev Limit by 50; however it occurs to me I have no idea what that set it to.

What is the Rev Limit preset in the canned 87 Octane tune or how can I limit it to around 4500.

If this a ridicules questions or am I asking for privileged information, please say so. I would like to remedy this.

not privileged at all. what you would need to do is post up your last tune written and original backup off the tool. then i can open it and see where your rev limiters are. that being said if i understand you correctly, the rev limiters alone are not going to solve your problem. it will lower the rev limiter but it will still down shift and bang the limiter. you will need to lower the downshift speeds as well. that was you have to drop to a lower speed before it does downshift and the rpm wont be so hi after the shift.

they show 6000 as factory and currently they are set at 5949.8

now just so you know this is a global rev limit not just in tow haul. i'll attach a tune that you can load as a custom tune any time you want to tow something is you want. you can then use the tool to modify my tune how you want. i'll set the rev limiter at 4500 like you wanted. and tweak the down shift. you can play with it from there.

should be in the tunes folder. should have 4 files. two pcm and two tcm

you have a 2001 truck.. there is no separate TCM on that old truck.. it's just the single PCM file for both engine/tranny...

Tune works Great.

Towed both boat and camper at around 63 MPH in Tow/Haul with Cruise Control on.
Camper stayed in 4th gear at about 1750 RPM with no down shifting.
Pontoon Boat (lots of air drag) stayed in 3rd gear at about 2300 RPM.
