Mike,
I know you have had enough grief about the data logging and PC connect/download on the U7193, etc. and probably have no direct control over it. Wouldn't it be simpler to just post more clearly on your web site that it is currently not available and perhaps an ETA? I bought the U7778 kit thinking I could do this with the recent purchase . Okay, I can wait and am not terribly upset having to do, but we are passionate about our vehicles and its like waiting for Christmas that may not come in December, but rather April, June, August, who knows?
Now to the real question, I seem to have read somewhere that the Predator requires a 12 v power source to do the data logging while underway to the PC. My U7778 came with an AC adapter, but no 12v adapter. Does it need this??
Data Logger
RE: Data Logger
When logging is implemented on your Predator, there will be a couple of ways to log data:
1. Log data on the Predator as you are driving. For this you will not need the adapter, as the Predator will get its power from your vehicle. The disadvantage of this is that the Predator screen is tiny and can only display a few values at a time. Also, there is a limit in the Predator's memory as to how much data you can record.
2. Log data on the Predator and download to a computer. For this you will need the serial cable. You will only need the 12v power source if your computer is a desktop and cannot thus be brought into your vehicle like a laptop. After downloading the log, you can view the data within the DataViewer application.
3. Log data directory to the DataViewer running on the laptop. For this you will need the serial cable but not the 12v power supply. If you have a laptop this is an idea method because the data is streamed directly to the laptop and is thus not limited by the Predator's memory.
