Relay to turn Trinity on/off.

Hello All,
I use my Trinity in my 2009 Challenger only to monitor gauges. It is not married to the car. I still use my Predator for tunes.
Even with the sleep timer set to 60 seconds, I know my Trinity draws power when the car is off. As long as I drive the car once a week, I know I'm okay. But, I'd rather not have that drain on the battery if I can make a way to avoid it.
I'd like to electrically disconnect the Trinity from the car without having to unplug it from the OBD port.
Within the Trinity's OBD II Cable: I could cut the power wire and run that wire through a relay. That relay would be powered by a 12v ignition on source. Then, I could set the sleep timer back to 5 seconds, and everytime I turn the car on, the Trinity would come up and display my gauge page quickly.
However, whenever I physically unplug the Trinity, and then plug it back in; it goes through it's start-up sequence, and then I have to select Monitoring, my gauge page, etc. So, I'm thinking if I put that OBD power wire on a relay, it would probably do the same thing, instead of popping-up with my gauge page. Is that correct?
If so, if I put the CAN BUS C+ wire on a relay instead: Would that accomplish my goal? Would that stop the power draw of the Trinity when the car is off? And, would the Trinity pop-up quickly to my gauge page when I turn the car on?
