2008 Wrangler 3.8L new i2 issues

Post by SilverJKU »

Tried installing my new i2 in preperation for a turbocharger install and when using the "Easy Tune" it allows me to select to change tire size, gear ratio and speed limiter but doesn't go into the menus to adjust them. It tries to upload the tune and then fails and says failure to adjust parameters or something to that effect. If I try "Advanced Tune" I can find the options for tire size and TPMS but there is no option for gear ratio. Is there a fix for this as it seems a bit odd to not have the gear ratio accessible in the advanced menu. Please help as I am so far not very happy with my purchase.

Even though you guys were 10mins late opening the phones this morning I tried holding for 20mins but had to give up and head to work. Maybe somebody will respond to this post and try to help. I'll try again in the morning if nothing happens here today and hopefully the phones open on time.

there is no gear adjustment needed for 07-11 models, you should be fine.

How do you adjust for my 5.13:1 gears then? It needs to be factored in to program the shift points and speedo. What about the other loading issues?

07-11 JK does not care about gears, it uses OSS for speed cals, shifting, etc.
Only tire size matters.

OK, I'll give it another shot and see what happens.

OK, tried tuning again tonight using advanced tune and selected my tire size, TPMS off and 91 octane tune. Started to read backup then it kicked on the engine fan and dash flashed "HOT OIL" and then tuner read "Read failed" and that was as far as it got. Suggestions?

Finally got the tune to load. Used Mike's suggestion of using "Advanced Tune" without modifying any parameters then went back in to adjust tire size and TPMS after initial tune download. It went through the whole process without any issues as far as I can tell so it should be tuned. I still have to test drive it yet but I will assume all is good.

Question for Mike - is there any trans tuning in the i2 or any way to adjust any of the parameters?
