Dataviewer still refuses to work...

Post by houseofpower »

This is an on going problem with your dataviewer. Plug predator into cars OBDII port, connect via USB to serial, open up program and start. Yes infrequently used PID's is enabled. It takes sometimes twenty attempts to do get all the PID's up. Regardless of laptops the problem is still there. Some cars I have no problem and some I do. Seems that there could be an interface problem between 2005 vehicles and perhaps late 2006. Because some early 2006's exhibit the same problem.

1) The acquiring vehicle identification takes almost 3 minutes to complete.

2) Once it's finished...

A. It only shows PID's & DMR's in the tree

B. It show's PID's & DMR's with a small portion of available PID's from the vehicle.

Are you using the latest version (3.1.5.2) ? You never answered me in the other thread you started.

If this version does not help you, and you have indeed tried this from multiple laptops, then I recommend trying a new serial cable.

The tree represents all the available PIDs and DMRs. The PIDs and DMRs you will be recording appear on the charts and gauges to the right.

You ADD and REMOVE PIDs and DMRs from the charts and gauges by selecting them in the tree. Please review the instructions on the info tab. These instructions are also available in the Help file. Right click on a PID or DMR in the tree, select "Add Digital Gauge", etc.

In that thread I replied back with using 3.5.10

I have used your supplied cable, and I have tried using two other types of data cables that I use with other software.

I know how it works. I have a 2006 charger SRT 8 here as well and I can hook up fine to that car with the Dataviewer. It's apparent that it does not like 2005 vehicles.

3.1.6.2 is the latest version. You are using 3.1.5.10. You should upgrade that first.

As for your screen shot above, click on View -> Show Vehicle Information and give me a screen shot of that dialog.

GG, you send out a new version every week? How about making it perhaps auto detect for updates automatically? Downloading new version, I'll give you a heads up in 5 min.

Most of the time releases are in support of new Predators, or include updates to the database such as additional DMRs. This latest release, though, had some changes to the communications layer. That's why it is important for you to give it a whirl.

If you didn't already, please click on the blue vehicle button to rescan your PIDs.

If you would, after you have retrieved the Show Vehicle Info, close the DataViewer and then email me your runtime.txt file. On Windows XP you should find this file under C:\Program Files\Common Files\DiabloSport\DataViewer.
