93 cai tune
What is the 93 CAI tune, designed for? Just 93 octain and a CAI, or is it also for high flow exaust plus CAI? If one has headers, CAI, and high flow exaust would one need to modify the tune and add some fuel for optimul results?
RE: 93 cai tune
It is made to work best w/CAI ,Premuim fuel.Air/ fuel should be checked with any other Mods.

RE: 93 cai tune
Most of us with cai's also have after market high flow exaust systems. May of us also have headers. Those of us with cai and exaust need additional tuning, not to mention headers? Any by checked, so you mean taken to a dyno shop? or can we just bump up the fuel a little to compensate?

RE: 93 cai tune
Headers may want a bit of fuel added, but the only way to tell for sure is to see the A/F on a wideband.
CAI tune will run fine with any catback as they do not do much in the way of improving airflow.
Thanks

RE: 93 cai tune
With CAI, Headers, Magnaflow cat back exaust, and 93 octain fuel, should I take the 93 CAI tune and bump up the fuel a little, or do I need to go to a dyno shop?
Does the datalogging show a/f ratios where I can do some tuning?

RE: 93 cai tune
I am running an AIRAID CIA with SLP Loudmouth I Exhaust which is basically like 3" straight pipes. I run either 91 or 92 octane fuel most of the time, am I good to use the 93 CIA tune, or should I stick with the 91 CIA tune? I live in Kansas at 1049.6ft above sea level and I have updated to R20 as of today.

RE: 93 cai tune
Many of the tester vehicles we had in had cat backs and no additional tuning was required for that.
For headers i would recommend adding 5% of fuel.
Recoil, you should be ok with the 93 tune, to be sure you can always log your spark and knock and see if you have excessive knock.

Re: RE: 93 cai tune
Just so I am 100% clear. You are saying if you have a CAI, high flow exaust, and headers, and are using 93 octain, modify the 93CAI tune by adding 5% more fuel (Because of the headers). Leave the timing alone, and add 5% to all RPM ranges? Correct?johan wrote:Many of the tester vehicles we had in had cat backs and no additional tuning was required for that.

Yeah just add 5% in all ranges.

Unfortunately no, the only was to see exactly what's going on is with a wideband gauge of some sort. This way, you can lightly tweak your fuel table to get your a/f between 12.5 and 13.0 at WOT throughout the RPMS (1500 to Redline). With your mods, you can be a little lean from 2000 to 4000 RPMS, but from 4000 to redline your at 12.8 at WOT,need fuel down low, it's good above 4000 RPMS, that's were you use your dual fuel table parameter 2-4000 +/- to add appropriate amount of extra fuel
Next is to find out the relationship between advance or retarding spark and or timing, and performance according to what mods you have. Then adjust them accordingly, or you can take it to a dyno-shop and let them do it.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: 93 cai tune
Thank you for your responce, I was needing a yes or no, but you also explained more. When people tell me I need a wide band o2 sensor I assume just that (Nothing less, nothing more). Purchase a Wideband o2, Remove the factory one, install the wideband one, plug it into the factory harnes, and then something will give me the a/f ratio. Dont assume I know I need more parts. No one else was willing to give all the facts, which are I also need more parts than just the wideband 02 sensor. This means I will need to spend hundreds not 50-75, or I can go to a dyno shop and let them do the work.
Thank you for answering my question

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: 93 cai tune
For the mods you have you do not need a wideband. A wideband would need to have its own bung in the exhaust and has an independent circuit that come with it.
If you run cold air, cat back exhaust the Perf CAI tune will work fine, if you have long tubes i would suggest adding 5% fuel across the board in the WOT fuel parameters.

I assume this is for the 5.7, and 6.1L Not the V6
