Auto Drive After Cam Swap...

Post by robustRed »

Hello, I have a 08 Ram QC 1500 5.7, I have a custom(93 Octane) tune currently for my truck and most of the Auto Drive Tuned out.
My question is, can it be tuned completely out? If i rev the engine in neutral while moving at any speed above 2 or 3 miles per hour the rpm will hang and slowly fall or will return to idle when the vehicle stops. Also when sitting idle in Drive, The rpm will slowly increase to about 800 from 600 and when I let off the brake and just creep with out my foot on the gas or brake, the truck wants to drive about 6-7 MPH. Same if you let it shift into 2nd, it will Auto Drive about 15MPH. The tune was really bad in the beginning but has mostly been worked out.
Mod list: Inertia Spartan Plus cam (214/222 on a 112LSA) : SRT Valve springs, stock intake, Slightly ported heads, Long tube headers W/o cats and 4.56 Gears.

I can do a data log if needed. Also i can post the last tune my tuner sent me, but only in a pm. I want to protect his work so others cannot download it. Thanks in advance! Oh, and one more quick question, Can the cold start up High idle be turned off? I would like the truck to Idle an normal RPM when i start it.

Yes, you should be able to have stock type drivability once it is dialed in.

Another Question, well maybe a couple. What is it exactly that causes the Auto Drive and what parameters are modified to correct it. I know it has a lot to do with the MAP pressure being higher but that is all i know, or correct me if i am wrong. I used to do some tuning a few years ago but have lost the touch since i only did it for a little while.

Other question is... I am kinda not sure about asking my tuner about any more assistance on the issue because it did take about 5 or 6 months to get it worked out and i think i may have irritated him a little bit. Is there any way some one here could look at it and determine if it is just a quick adjustment that can be made since it is mostly worked out? I have the tune file on my desktop that was sent to me and currently in the truck.
