How often are software updates for the I2 Tuner? I was just wondering if new or improved configurations for my truck might be available for my truck.

updates are to add support for new vehicles, fix any functionality issues/bugs with the tool if there are any, etc.. The Tunes are not changed...

If there is a bug fix do I have to return vehicle to stock and then reload tune? or just plug tuner into vehicle?

Yes, return to stock tune, run the updater on your InTune, then reinstall your choice of DS tunes on your ride.
