Got me a brand new 16 chevy silverado 5.3 6 speed

Post by HEMIxFEVER »

I traded in my 11 ram hemi with an intune I2 i took my programer off the night before. It sucked driving it to the dealership. It had a custom hemifever 93 tune.

1. Can i use this exact one on my 16 chevy
2. Would it be worth talking to gm about it? I really dont wanna void my warranty because its so new, i also got the 7 year free part replacement. (It was extra)
3. If i go with this would i run into tuning issues? My 11 ram failed the calibration update resulting in a no start

The reason i wanna tune it is because the 3.42s suck in town, plus i cant get my selling price. Also if i get a bigger tire i would need to change the speed.

So i would be putting the 89 tune maybe 93 once gas goes back down, tcm settings, and throttle response.
I know i would be fine based on what others have said, but since this truck is my first new one i ever had i am worried

Off topic I heard a forum member on a chevy forum mention a gm performance parts (aftermarket instilling) he had a supercharger done on his truck. would that be the best option? (Goes with the second question)

Thanks guys for helping out a new owner. (All my other trucks been used)

Running an i2 in my own brand new 2016... yeah there's the warranty thing... IF a shop has the wherewithal to bother checking for past calibrations... I don't think many shops bother without a reason to go looking for it. Just be sure and put it back to stock for EVERY dealer visit. There are so many recalls on these trucks that you never know when to expect they'll reflash you on an oil change.

Don't get me wrong, recalls aren't a bad thing... they're just service updates... just like your phone has for how many apps how many times a month? But just don't ever turn your truck over with your tune in it.

Made a big difference in my truck. I turned active fuel management off, firm trans shifts, 15% throttle boost. Left timing and fan temps alone for now till I learn it better.

if you have an i2010 for Dodge, you'll need to add a GM license to it for $149 to use the same tool.

Thanks. I guess i will see about getting one then
Anything I should know about tuning i had a problem before on my ram with the programmer making the truck a paper weight.

Is there anyway i can swap out for a gm license? Since i dont have my ram anymore?
