Hello DS
A little background
- I am a long time user of DS products, especially trinity (I have 3 of them in use)
- I am documenting this as much for me so I can relay all information as I am stuck and will need to phone in the morning for sure
- 2015 Charger Hellcat
Last fall - did some mods (new SC pulley, intake, driveshaft etc)
- bought unlocked ECU & custom tune from a well known vendor (came with a trinity)
- trinity backed up original tune (from the unlocked new ECU) and I loaded custom tune no problem (as I have done many, many times, car ran great all fall and even as early as today)
Fast forward to today
- Pulled car out of 3 moth storage to pin the crank - big job, but got it done
- started car I the garage and it ran fine (with my custom tune still in it, didn't even mess with anything on the trinity at tis point)
- took a shower and decided it may be a good idea to check the DS site for any trinity software updates, gage layouts etc - turned out there was (1r13h, I think I was g)
- went ahead and restored original backup to the car and proceeded to my computer with the trinity
- plugged in the trinity with DS downloader running and it updated automatically as expected
- back to the car, I knew I has to read original backup again so I selected 91 oct dS tune for 6.4L in order to force the tool to read my ecu which it did (there is no 6.2L option, I did this last fall as well) and it said it was successful
- I then hit ok and the trinity loaded the 91 oct tune on the car (remember for the 6.4, not the hellcat 6.2). I think last fall I cancelled the tune write after the original backup was read and proceeded to load my custom tune, not sure), this time it wrote the tune to the car
PS - I did notice that the "h" version froze a couple time just booting up and I didn't pay much attention. It kept going to a screen "new registry" and I hit continue when it asked
- back to the computer to load my custom tune on the device, says it did (although it seemed fast).
- back to the car - unit freezes as soon as I hit any button, if I plug it in the computer it shows not married. - I can't retrieve the backup tune as the unit says it doesn't exist and constantly freezes up in the middle of operation. I can't figure out any pattern
A couple notes....
I do have my original backup tune on my computer from last fall as well as my custom tune.
- car currently has the 91 oct DS tune for a 6.4 on it and of coarse the car won't start at all (different setup altogether from the 6.4)
- I do have the original locked Stock ECU for the car. I supposed I could use this to get the car mobile but I want to speak with DS first before doing this. (this ECU does not support my mods anyway and hasn't been plugged in for over 5K miles so the mileage in the ecu is incorrect.
I am dead stuck, and hopefully I can get this resolved quickly . . . . .

Update - Just came back from dinner, plugged the trinity into computer to see if I could read original backup 1 last time, unit now says "Problem: press the center button..." when I do it says "filesystem error". when I hit continue it just reboots to the same messages endlessly . . .uuuugh . my kitty is getting angry not being able to start !! Hopefully tomorrow will be better. . . .I should have just left it alone instead of trying to update it . . . . . . . .I should have known better
