2014 CTS 2.0T Transmission Noise

Post by thenasty0ne714 »

2014 CTS 2.0T Sedan
3,000 miles
Auto 6sp tranny

Issue: Transmission noise during high rpm shifts

Installed and used both 91 and 93 octane tunes and I am having trouble with the transmission. At WOT High rpm shift 1-2 and 2-3 transmission makes a "clack" type noise. Ive tried using the tunes with modified stockTCM, firm and hard shift tunes but still the noise is present. Tried turning torque management on and off both still has the noise. Changed all shift pressures down and up with no help.

also tried lowering all shift points to 5900

I am hoping someone here knows how to fix this issue...
If I am unable to fix using the out of thenbox tune will custom tune fix this?

Btw both tunes the power n torque is great!!! everything is good except the shifts

so if it still made the noise on the modified stock tcm tune file, then you have transmission issues you need to get fixed at your dealer.. because the modify stock tcm tune is just a copy of the stock factory tcm tune..

the tunes don't make any changes that would cause any kind of tranny noise..

I find tnhard to believe I have tranny issues... but is always a possibility

I only get that noise when there is a tune installed even when the tranny is left stock.

Lets say I takenit back to the dealer and they ask me whats wrong eith the tranny what am I ggoingto say when it runs perfect without a tune and noise only appears when I tune it??

Nothing say nothing because the moment you tell them you tuned it your warranty is a wrap!

Tune has been removed but after some research on this issue.... There are others with the same issue as me and some say that noise is detnation and not the tranny. With lack of any response or support from the forum ill probably end up selling my intune and looking at other options..

detonation and trans noise are entirely different and come from different places...you can log it to see knock.

Will install tune and log this weekend... havent had the chance with work and everything.... I hope it is knock and not a tranny issue...but if im wrong will still post results regardless... Not here trying to bash anyone or anything. Just want to get issued resolved and if it is a tune issue well hopefuly it can improve the tune overall for everyone and make diablo better.

Understood, I'd like to get to the bottom of this.

I own (lease?) and drive a 2.0T ATS daily, and I beat the crap out of it, and its never skipped a beat as far as any noise or trans issues at all. We actually had 2 here (one was recently turned in and upgraded to an ATSV), and I've driven close to a dozen of them, and never heard or felt anything odd as you describe, but it has been brought up once or twice by other users.

Thanks

Was going to do the datalogging this weekend but ran into a slight issue when I swapped out my steering wheel for the suede one. Now stabilitrak light is on so once I figure out how to recalibrate the angle sensor Ill log the data.

I did hear the noise 1 time towrds the end of the datalog. I am going to assume it is the transmission now and ffound a TSB for the car..... would bad torque converter cause this noise?

#4 piston cracked.... scored with cylinder wall pretty bad and is now awaiting engine replacement.

Log should also proved that none of this is tuned related I know in many other forums some tend to blame diablo which shouldnt be the case.

Awaiting to receive car back and will be tuned again.
