Shifting Problem

Post by bcplatinum »

I have an 07 charger R/T I have installed the r20 update with a cusom tune from PPP. I am having a problem with the car hitting the rev limiter and shifting up in drive.
Here's the scenario: in auto going about 55mph I stomp on the gas(wot), car shifts down and when it reaches the rev limiter it will not shift into the next gear unless I let off and then it will shift into the next gear. Any ideas??

Raise the rev limiter by about 200-300 RPM.

Thanks

if you had read Kymags first post you may have noticed he said he raised it 600, which I think is the max, and he still has the problem

Got news for you guys.... I have an 07 SRT8 and mine has done the same thing many times... AND I DO NOT YET HAVE THE PREDATOR.. Therefore, it may be something not related to your Predator tune.

When I changed exhaust and when I changed the air intake the problem was exaserbated.. It seems to mellow out after the car is driven for a while.. 50-100 miles..

I have spoken to the dealer about it.. and they said it happens with many of them.

I can say my 07 has no problem with shifting prior to rev. limit. That works just fine. Now on the other hand my autostick disable stopped working a few days after installing the predator, first few days were really nice, I wish someone could tell me what happened

Personally I dont understand the whole thing at all.. I dont really know the inner workings of cars, but the whole rev limiter thing doesnt make any sense to me.... You would assume by definition, that if the car is an automatic, then it would "automatically" upshift when it hits a specified rev limit... How would the transmission allow you to go beyond the rev limiter is a mystery to me. My dealership claims it is something that Daimler is responsible for...????

without exception every car I have ever bought from 1969 to now held whatever gear you wanted until you decided to shift. it wasn't until higher than expected warranty claims started coming that car makers started placing rev. limits. I think one of the first was 1970 boss 302. the auto upshift is something I only experienced with recent chrysler products.
