I have an 05 Mustang V6 4.0, and I recently made my own CAI with a 2.75 wide aluminum pipe and a filter that is 6 inches long by 4 inches wide. The filter and pipe are similar to that of a K&N CAI. My U7140 has preset CAI tunes for JLT, C&L, and Steeda CAI's. What I wanted to know is are any of these compatible with a CAI that's do it yourself? Or would I be better off just using the 93 Octane tune and modifying the parameters. If using the 93 Octane tune is the way to go, what would be suggested to modify the MAF, Fuel Table, etc.
Also on a side note. Someone mentioned gapping my spark plugs to that of the GT, is that recommended? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if you only have mild bolt ons than there is no need to regap the plugs. just make sure they are in good health.
as for the cold air intake you are more than likely going to need a custom tune. what i would do is toss one of the cai tunes in there. try and research which one is the closest in tuning diameter to the one you are using and load that in. then watch the short term and long term fuel trims while idling and driving around see if they are +/- more then 10%. if they are then you probably should get a custom tune done.

Excellent, thanks much. I'll give that a try.
Re: Do It Yourself CAI
How would I go about getting a custom tune? I also wanted to alter the dashpot settings so the revs would drop off at a faster rate and I was told that that would require a custome tune as well.

you would want to take it to any of our CMR dealers and have it dyno tuned. and tell them what you want. you can use a dealer locator on our website to find one near you.Donna05 wrote:How would I go about getting a custom tune?
