2016 Silverado 1500 LT2 Z71 5.3 Ecoboost
2016 Silverado 1500 LT2 Z71 5.3 Ecoboost
I had my Trinity on my 2007 Silverado 5.3. I returned it back to Stock Backup and did an update (for the first time). I could not find 2016 Chevrolet/GM but saw in a thread to use 2015 so thats what I did.
I plugged it in to the port and agreed. I popped up "Current Calibration Not Supported .. Will attempt to back up ... view CAID" something like that. I do not want to brick my truck so I am asking if this is normal .. "attempt to backup" I do not remember my 07 attempting to anything it just did it.

Ok so I figured out what I did wrong .. when I updated my Trinity I had to update the downloader. Well lets just say I forgot to change my tuner type before updating
.
So new problem ... I have played around with the tire sizes but can not seem to get my speed updated. I am 4-5 miles off.
Running 295\70r18 Toyo Open Country MT. I measured the OD and put that in but it did not change anything. I have ran it as high as 46 on the height with no change. I did visit a local dealer to pick up some touch up paint and asked about updating this since the dealer put the 6" Lift and Tires prior to selling. They seemed to think they were not able to update but this fool didnt know how to update my radio package for android either.
On my 2007 NBS had no problem updating using side wall info but this truck does not seem to update or change.

Not sure why this forum is even here because it is not monitored.

I stated I have already measured the side wall od to be 32.5". I have entered a range from 30 all way to 46 with no change. Very frustrating that this worked just fine on my last vehicle and this model has been out since 2014 and we can not get a tire model to function properly.mikel wrote:use the height in inches option to make fine adjustments ot the setting to dial in the speedo.

OK, much as I suspected, this is actually a 2016 model, and this has been an issue with all 16 GM trucks, we are still looking into it.

Re: 2016 Silverado 1500 LT2 Z71 5.3
Ok so I have to keep adjusting the number in a trial or error sequence. This is crazy for a $500 device. Is there a quicker way to do this besides it having to update the tune everytime? Its hot in Texas and waiting 5 min in the heat each time I want to change this is getting old. Been at this for a couple weeks now and still no luck.

Re: 2016 Silverado 1500 LT2 Z71 5.3 Ecoboost
this is not the devices issue per se, its just how the pcm works, if you enter the exact data for the tires and the speedo does not calibrate exactly, you have to adjust the data you provide until you get it dialed in. It would be the same with any tuning application unfortunately, and they will all require that you do a full flash to write the tire size changes.

I know you guys are always trying to keep up but man killing me.
OK maybe we can get a list of what people are running and the parameters used to get the speedo correct?
(this would be most appreciated by all if people would be willing to help)
Rim Size / Tire Size / Brand = setting that equaled correct speed

it will vary from tuck to truck, and also, not all 35" tires measure out the same, which is the biggest issue and why dialing it in is often necessary.

Can you post the tune files from your tool so we can make you a custom tune to try to correct the speedo?
Thanks
