Pinging after installing tune!

Post by four34 »

2015 GMC Sierra SLT 6 speed 5.3 V8 w/ K&N cold air intake. I have the diablo tune installed with firm shifts, and DOD off. I am running 91 octane gas and have run 3 or 4 tanks of gas from different stations thru it thinking it was the gas but it doesnt seem to matter. what could be causing this? It only seems to be doing it when pulling hills or putting my foot into it. I have also tried the 87 octane tune running 87 and 89 octane with the same results. Any info would be appreciated.

make sure you select/install the tunes from the Advanced Mode screen..

and Make sure you are using GOOD gas, it makes a difference... mobil, exxon, sunoco, amoco, bp, chevron are best brands to use, with mobil and exxon being the best..

NEVER use Shell, costco/bj's, mom-n-pop, or no-name brands, as it's crap gas that tends to cause a lot of knock retard and less performance/mpg...

Agree low octane fuel or bad fuel. I would go to a lower octane tune until you can try a higher octane fuel at another location. If it still continues. Post a log file and your tune files up.
