Shifting Issues (formerly r20 Shifting Issues)

I've started with the Predator since r14 and love it, love it, love it. I'm running the 91 CAI tune, I always reset TCM, shiift firmness, raise shiftpoints, etc, etc.
However, I have a 2006 Charger R/T and with v20 the shifting is lacking. When cruising at speed and in Drive, the trans doesn't shift to the proper gear when mashing down the accelerator on a pass. In other words, instead of downshifting two gears, like it used to, it only downshifts one gear and holds as it slowly climbs up in RPM, all the while my foot is buried in the throttle. This had not been an issue on previous versions. I'm not a tuner, and I know you didn't mess with the TCM on this version, but could it be that when you added WOT fuel on this release that the car is getting a little too much fuel and causing it to choke/bog? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
On a side note: Was there any change made to the torque management in this release? It seems to me that there was some torque put back on.

Mine use to do that until I starting using the tuner. These cars supp.have adaptive learning on board.

Mike, or anyone at DiabloSport: Let me preface this with I have been happy with your customer service to this point. I've watched you take a beating on the forums from time to time, warranted or not, and I have come to your defense. Now, I need your help. I know you didn't change the TCM in v20 but, nonetheless, the shifting is different for the worse. I've seen you post replies to others here and on your lxforums, yet you've ignored mine. If you don't have the answer, that's fine, but let's at least get some dialogue going. Apparently, I'm not the only one with this issue.

I have an 07 charger and have the exact same problem. When I floor it from a dead stop the 2-3 shift does not shift for 2 seconds if I continue holding down or I have to let it up if I want it is shift as well. This is DEFINATELY a problem! Please, come up with a fix for this soon.

I am running r20 in my 07 daytona and can honestly say it shifts great at WOT, the only thing that bugs me is the lack of auto upshift disable. I have raised my rev. limit to +600 and took away 3% fuel at all levels with 93 cai tune and it will spin the tires going from 1-2 and slams into 3rd with no hesitation.

I swear i have replied to this post...it seems that my replies are not coming up???
Either way, I have plenty of people saying the shifting is better than ever,,,so you guys can hopefully see our frustration with these issues.
The cars I get in the shop shift perfectly...know for sure we would never release a tune that acted as some of you are describing.
At this point we really need to get a vehicle with these issues in the shop so we can see it for ourselves and find a fix.
Thanks

Okay, thank you for that. I know you guys are doing your best and we're all working toward the same common goal. Hopefully, someone close, that's having the same issue, will bring their car in. For now, I will go back to a previous version and wait it out. Thank you for your continued support and attention.

Hmmm, just my 2cents (maybe 1cent since I only have stock and r20 to compare). r20 with raised shift points.
I did not experience any problems with downshifting with the following tiny difference. When coming to a stop like at a red light and the car automatically down shifts into 1st (auto or autostick and it's just before you come to a stop) it's sort of abrupt. Kind of like a slight bump or clunk. I was thinking maybe I should check my driveshaft bolts and joints. I put it back to stock and it's as smooth as ever. You cannot feel it shift into first in this situation. I didn't think to try r20 with regular shift points.
On WOT upshifting I did notice a significantly softer upshift. Somewhat on the 1-2 shift and very noticeable on the 2-3 shift. It kind of feels like that torque converter should be locked but isn't? Sort of that "rubber band" feeling to the shift. For that reason I was going to try r18 since everyone says it shifts very firmly.

I guess thatsort of describes the 1-2 shift I experienced when I put the 93 w CAI tune in my SRT8. The program on my mew tuner is the r20 also. I described the shift as a sort of surging at the shift point for 1-2

Pulling fuse #11 didn't help. I'm sure DiabloSport is as frustrated as many of us are, assuming they care to rectify this issue and their track record shows that they do. For whatever reason, r20 isn't as good in the shifting dept as earlier versions, nor is it as quick off the line, IMO. It just won't shift as crisp nor will it correctly downshift when you stomp the pedal. It just holds the gear and tries to make the best of it, rather than downshifting to right gear.
I have faith that this will be fixed in the near future. **fingers crossed while kneeling in a prayer position**

so far as the downshifting goes, I found that it used to down shift
so far as the downshifting goes I found that it used to go to 1st @30 at the kick. Now it needs to be at 29. It used to down to 2nd @60, now it seems to need to be @ 58.

I have a 08 and never had any other tunes to judge from except the r20 but when I complain about some of the same things you guys are complaining about they tell me "that is strange" we do not have problems with anyone elses car. r20 only has improved shifting. A lot of BS comes from Diablo and no good straight answers. Somebody there should run for office because they have all the run around down pat. They don't want to admit they got some problems and they don't have a clue why. If you go back and read all this thread there is 06, 07, and 08 cars with troubles just in this little short thread. But they don't have troubles we are all stupid and don't know how to use the tuner.
