Canned tunes for Silverado and other newb Q's

Post by Dr-G »

Newb here just looking to see if I have this right. I will search for answers to some of my questions, still getting familiar with the site. I have some basic questions to get me pumped for this unit.

Looks like there are 3 basic tunes for the Silverado, unless you have a custom tune installed.

1. Diablo tune (93 octane)
2. MPG tune (economy)
3. 87 octane tune

Option to Re-flash stock tune

Is there a 'Towing tune' available? I haul a single car trailer and travel trailer occasionally.

Is there a way to turn off the seatbelt warning? (I know not recommended)

How do you get into the specific options like turning on fan at lower temp etc?

Does it need to be from a laptop while hooked up in truck or can I take inside and make changes?

I did pull the unit from the vehicle and exported it to the desktop to have an OEM copy in case something bad happens, Would this help me re-flash in case I do something wrong?

Thanks!

on trucks, the Diablo Tune is for 91/93 octane.. not just 93 specifically. so you can use 91-93 octane on the Diablo Tune..

no there is no towing specific tune.. not necessary.. You'd just use the tow/haul button on the dash like you normally would. That just tells the transmission to use different shifting settings, that's all it does. The engine tune does not change at all, the engine tune stays the same no matter what mode you're in.

no can't do anything about seatbelt, that has nothing to do with engine or tranny

tool has to be connected to vehicle to make changes to the tune - you'd select the tune you want to install, then choose to Modify the tune and you can get into the modify tune menu...

if it's a 2007 or newer truck, you can not adjust fan temps.. newer vehicles don't work that way - the fans are based on how much % power the fans run at.. you can change the % power that the fans run at, at specific temps.. fan settings are already changed/adjusted in the preset canned tunes.

if it's an older truck, you can modify the fan temps if needed.. but again, fan settings are already changed/adjusted in the preset canned tunes if available

Cool - Thanks. That clears some up for me.

When switching between tunes do you have to go back to OEM them to another or just switch to whichever you want and It knows which one is the OEM tune?

Is it possible to get it back from my laptop if needed? Was that a good idea.

Thanks again,

No need to go back to stock when witching tunes.
