Stolen Predator

Post by claude9039u »

Couple of questions. My predator was stolen last night in my car. So I am sure someday someone is going to be looking to program there car and cant because my stock program is still in the tuner. So can I tell diablo it’s been stolen and who do I contact? If someone sends it to them to have it reprogrammed will Diablo be able to see it was stolen and send it back to me. Now as for my car it’s programmed so I am good but I know I will have to get a new predator soon so what do I do? I am guessing go to the dealer and have them program my car to stock then program with new predator? Any help would be great guys.

ultimate answer will be you will need proof that it was stolen and diablo can help you with the force relearn when you get your new one

Well I understand what you are saying but why would I have to prove that it was stolen. Its mine it registered with Dialbo so they know I have one. So if I tell them it was stolen and I need to buy a new one why would I have to prove the old one was was stolen? A

you are correct i am sorry. you would have to have car reflashed by dealer than any predator can retune. I must not have read your entire post. I would assume if you wanted to skip the dealer reflash than you would have to show proof of it being stolen so diablo can give you an unlock code, I know the dealer will charge and They probally will not be happy that you have the tune installed.

actually after thinking about it your only option is to get it reflashed by dealer and buy the new predator as you no longer have your original backup.

Bob is right, another predator will see that you have a non stock program in there and will not allow you to tune it. A dealer reflash is necessary.

Yikes. Isn't there some solution you guys can come up with for just this sort of situation? A CROM that only works once with an unlock code from Diablo. It's only function is to flash a PCM to stock and it only works once? Stolen Predators, smashed Predators, etc. What if your Predator just quits working? If it's a copyright thing, how about a repository where users could register their predator, car(vin), and upload their stock tune after the first use? The user would just be storing their flash with you and if needed you could wrap it in a one shot CROM and send it back.

If claude has his original tune saved to his home computer, can he reload that original into the replacement Predator and have you guys unlock it so the OEM tune can be dumped back into his car?

Nope, the only option is a reflash and a new Predator...

Thanks

WOW... IMO... that is a design flaw of the highest order. In the event that your prescious Predator breaks or stops working, there is no way to restore the stock tune? This should be priority one to get rectified or Diablosport might someday find itself on the receiving end of a pretty big lawsuit (even if they win, it could be an expensive lesson for them).

I swear, next time I hear the word lawsuit on this forum I quit.
Seriously.
When are people going to start taking some responsibility for their actions?
You choose to modify your PCM, you take any risks associated with that. Period.

"Im gonna sue Diablo because they let me hack into my PCM and do something I was never supposed to do in the first place, then I lost my tool to undo what I did, and its their fault?!?!?!"

OMG, you really need to step back and rethink your statement....

I wasn't threatening to sue... I was just stating the obvious.... lawsuits in the US are as American as Apple Pie these days. I live in Canada, where we cannot really sue anyone for anything and when and if we are allowed to sue, we get peanuts for the settlement. I see the US news all the time and watch how little old ladies get millions for not "taking some responsibility for their actions" and spilling hot coffee on their laps. I did not mean to say that I was using this as a threat, but there are those out there that will abuse the system (sue the shoe manufacturer because they cannot run faster than they did before).

The ability to return to stock in the event that YOUR equipment breaks or fails, due to no fault of the user, should have been included in the design of the predator, even if it required "proof of purchase" to return your car to stock settings, I think we'd all be in agreement with that.

Ha ha ha... you're funny... NOT!!!

I do think however there should be a way of restoring your stock settings from your PC backup if you BUY a new predator!!! It's reasonable! Diablo would make $$ from the sale of the new programmer and they would have an extremely happy customer that would be relieved that his vehicle warantee would not be voided, adding to the stress of his stolen items.

There is. Like Mike said, a dealer reflash and then apply the new Predator.
