Unable to restore stock tune and unable to update intune

Post by scottatah »

Hi Folks,

A few years back I had a custom tune installed on my 05 Chrysler 300C by a local shop that regularly works with Diablo. Anyways, more recently, I've been looking to change things up and so I wanted to restore the stock tune. When I attempt to do so, It it begins writing tune 'original backup', gets to 100%, has me cycle the key and then goes back to a similar screen but the spinny dial locks up shortly after and nothing happens.

This intune i1000 has always been pretty buggy for me, so I figured I would try updating the device instead. I'm currently on 1r03h. I took a backup of whatever was on the device before hand (logs folder, tunes folder, and info.xml). Connected it to my PC and it spent close to an hour doing the updates and rebooting, etc. At the end, of it all, I got an error saying

The current firmware revision (1r03h) cannot be replaced by the firmware package within group_update_0

After clicking continue on that message, I got:

Failed to install group_update.itfg

I tried the update a couple more times to no avail.

I'm trying to reach support, but it's a challenge to get through on eastern hours (was gonna try from work, but we lock down USB devices so I can't).

Update:
I went back to the car and played around. I can see various tunes on the device (curious where they're located when I browse the device via a PC). I reinstalled the custom tune and even made some small modifications to parameters including tires (since I just changed to 20" wheels). It was successful. I then tried to restore back to stock and release the license. This time it got further, but it locked up at restoring tire sizes. I went back in and the custom tune was still installed, though with my specific parameters except for the tire size (which is almost identical to stock anyways). I'm happy that I'm able to do something, but I'm also confused.

Questions:
  • 1. Any suggestions on how to proceed outside of trying harder to contact them (gonna try to getup early and just go into work late?
  • 2. I'm not sure I was ever given a specific copy of the custom tune that they made for me at the local shop. Is there any way to back it up? Presumably it would be the "....LastTuneWritten.drg" file in the tunes folder? My only concern is it shows an odd 'last modified' file that doesn't really match the date of the dyno and tune - though I could blame PC's just being weird
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks,
Scott
