POWERPUCK question and suggestion

Post by reb0957 »

Where am I supposed to mount the switch? Either the cable on mine is short or I am an idiot. I ran it as straight as possible and could not get it to the dashboard underneath the steering wheel. I wanted it somewhere I could reach without having to bend over to do it.

Here is a suggestion:

The wiring harness is diconnected at the switch. But I think you should also make a quick connect at the POWERPUCK. Somethings are easier to reach from inside the cab to begin running the wires.

Also, I blew up my switch in the process of installing it. How can I get another one??

mine was plenty long, but i didn't velcro it to the fuse box. if you velcro it to the fuse box and your truck is still under warranty the dealer will see the velcro or the mark from it and know your running a box of some type. i used plastic wire ties and tied it to the bundle of wires up by the drivers side fender against the fire wall. gave me plenty of length to mount the switch next to the steering wheel. hope this helps.

I used to have it on the fuse box, then when I went to the dealership I would remove the chip and clean the box off and throw some dust when it was still damp on the top of the fuse box. Now I have the chip mounted in between the battery and the firewall on top of some other box I'm not sure what it is. This way I have plenty of cable to run the switch into the cab. But I just coiled the switch up and leave it under the hood, as I don't need to switch on the fly, I usually know where I want it before hand.

I "mounted" err hung mine on the drivers side handle. I agree with the "if you velcro it to the fuse box and your truck is still under warranty the dealer will see the velcro or the mark from it and know your running a box of some type" so i just stuck it behind the big wire bundle next to firewall. Ohh a suggestion put the stock setting on one side or the other not in the middle of the switch... its plain annoying. Also there is a hole in a metel piece under the dash above the gas pedle, however theres no way you 'should' reach for it wile driving.
