New (to me) Predator U7170

Post by daddy_k »

I purchased a U7170 from a friend and I have a few questions. I intalled it yesterday on my 99 F-250 and so far so good. Here are My questions:

1. On boot up I see Ford_7_3 version 8r01. When I look at the downloads for updates I see version 7r19 with a boot up Ford_7_3. Is this correct, it looks like the current download is version 7. With bootup of pstroke73 the update is version vr05. Which one is for my tuner? Would I gain any benefit trying to update or should I just leave the current version as is?

2. I am currently unable with this version to adjust my shift firmness. Is this a function of 8r01? I did not understand why the instruction manual shows how to change shift firmness when my device was unable.

3. I also was disappointed with the lack of written instructions in the installation manual on how to perform a software upgrade. In fact my manual did not mention it at all. I am telling you this only so you can inprove on future manuals. I know the instructions are on the web site but you do not even tell the customer to go to the web site for information on upgrades.

Thanks for your help

1. Go ahead and apply the 7r19dz file to the Predator, this should add the tranny adjustments.
2. /\ /\ /\
3. This is something we are looking into.

Thanks

Thanks Mike. Do I need to return the PCM to stock prior to the download? Also are the tunes any different betwee 7r19 and 8r01? Does my version of Predator allow the 8r05 update?
