Installing U7195 on 2003 Avalanche Z71

Post by FiremanAV »

I went today and had a U7195 installed on my Avalanche today, 87 tune, with an Air Aid Power Aid throttle body spacer. At first the truck did not want to take it. The AV at idle began to shake badly as though it was going to cut off. They had to load the program five or six times. It runs fine but stumbles initially. Has this happened to anyone else?

don't really need the TB spacer.. doesn't really do much of anything... could be the issue...

also, if it took 5 or 6 times to load the tune, somebody isn't doing something correctly...

I've helped a lot of people to tune and dial in their trucks, and this is the first I've heard of this issue...

YES!
I saw this exact scenario here recently.
A friend of mine stopped by to have us tune his 04 Escalade.
We installed the tune, and the truck would barely idle.
We scratched our heads for about an hour chasing it down, and eventually sent him on his way so we could look into it some more.
He then called me like an hour later to say that his battery/voltage light had just come on and that the alternator was toast.
Seems it was a voltage issue all along.
Alternator was replaced, I drove to his shop the next day, and installed the tune no problem, truck ran like a champ.

Check it out...

Thanks

Why didnt the truck have voltage/battery alternator problems and stumbling before the tune?

Plus the charging system gets strained during the flash process, hence why we tell you to be SURE the voltage at the battery is good and consistent.

Sounds like it's time to mod up to the 250A HD alternator! Check it out on club AV! :D

So is the Air Aid Power Aid throttle spacer a hinderance or is it it a help? I let a local dealer install the Diablo Sport and I was disappointed at how long it took. The truck runs better, but I believe that the full potential has not been unleashed. Any suggestions on a good program, the only other thing I have done is add a K&N air filter.

I apologize, I did not mean the dealer of the truck but a Diablo Sport Predator dealer. I still need optimum tunig advice, because I think it could be alot better.

how long did it take? should have taken about 10 minutes, at most. most of that time is spent creating a back up file, and building the diablo tune form your stock tune.

AV runs fine now except for a stumble once it goes back to idle. Need to play with it some more. Any suggestions?

Get some throttle body or carb cleaner and clean throttle body and both sides of the throttle body flap and see if that helps the idle problem.

get some CRC Mass Air Flow cleaner...

I use it to clean my MAF sensor as well as the throttle body... cleans shit off quick, and evaporates with no residue in about 5 seconds...
