My Trinity has the latest uploader and crom, it has worked fine on my 07 Corvette, and my old 14 Silverado. I just bought a new Silverado, with an April build date, tried to use the Trinity, and get the dreaded update tool. What gives? I am an experienced Trinity user, as well as other tuning software. Thanks for any help.

the 17s require an additional update.
assuming the tool was updated prior to going to the truck, you just need to connect it to a pc, open dsdl, let it find the tool then it will put the device under remote control for a few seconds, from there it will go back to the main menu and then you can go tune the truck.
Thanks

Well, I figured that it was probably something like. The tool was updated before trying the new 17. I have tried doing what you suggested, it doesn't appear to be finding an update. Now, instead of prompting to update the tool, it gives me a failed cut message, with details of pcm read error (-1). I usually figure this stuff out, this one is stumping me so far.

failed cut generally indicates that the unlock info hasn't been received yet. Can you tell me what the version is under options/show information?
When you went to the pc did you see it behave as I mentioned it would before going back to the truck?
Thanks

The exact verbiage is failed cut, then in details, PCM error prepare read, (-1). I have no clue, just a shame this tool and software can be so difficult to use. If I can't figure it out, it goes into file 13, with a lot of other hod rod stuff!

Winner, winner, chicken dinner! I downloaded the new crom, and it booted up, just like it's supposed to, the first try! I installed the Diablo tune, with the firm shifts. Took it on a little test drive, shifted fine, and no MIL's.

Thanks again Mikel, for your prompt attention. Whatever you did, it worked.
