Did I mess up?

Post by freestylingford »

I just bought a predator for my 03 f250 with 7.3 in it I have been reading this forum since I bought it and I wish i had found it sooner. I did read one post that said there will be a revision soon posted that it was done. Are people having these troubles on the last 7.3 built since they were programmed from the factory to provide more power and torque than the pre 02 models.

The real question is should I even try it before the new revision comes out?
If so thats fine I need to get the usb adapter cable and powers upply first anyway.

Thanks and I hope that I don't have to sell it before I even get to use it.

I too heard from some dodge guys that these were really nice programmers.

I was also curious as to why you have made these guys that have owned these programmers for so long wait for a fix? How big of a company are you?

Thanks.

Go ahead and use the tool, it will not hurt anything.
You will enjoy the extra power and mileage.

As we speak, all 7.3 tunes are being rewritten, and a new update is not too far off.

You know it just hit me really I wasn't looking for anything wrong with the predator I wanted to see what other people were able to outrun when they installed it I got smoked up a hill the other day by a duramax and i'll be honest I am major anti chevy and just because their state of the art engine is stouter than an outdated design like the 7.3 doesn't mean anything and i am hoping with my 5 inch exhaust and air filter replacement and this Diablo we can make amends with that duramax someday.

Basically I wasn't trying to be hard to get along with I just got a little shock to see nothing about the good.

I will be posting my good or bad results by Saturday so stay tuned.

Well, honestly, often times we do not hear from people until there is a problem, most people enjoying the tool never bother to come look for these forums to say how much they like it....sad but true.

Well I got it today and I had a little issue with the program upload because i didn't know I had a chip on it some Charlie Cheapo Street &Performance crap.

Once i got that off it let me upload the 85hp tune and I set the shift setting to firm.

And all i am going to say is Damn!!!!!!!! This thing really does work and I am scared i am going to break something soon but hopefully not before I get to try the 100hp tune that should be interesting.

Also I have no weired issues with it whatsoever the only way you know its there is when you get to about 1/2 throttle and wide open is scary.

Thanks very much for such a great performance increase.

And for the guys that are having the trouble I hope this new revision they come out with for you will give you the satisfaction that I have now.

Oh and by the way thanks to christine I think was her name she led me to the chip that I was never aware of being there because of the plastic holder that is slid around it I had to do some work to get the cover off. Now I am going to look into a decent transmission upgrade to hold the extra power.

After using this tool on the 100 hp tune I don't see much change between the 85 and 100 I guess 15 more hp isn't really going to feel like much.

And second I am having trouble getting the Diablo to communicate with my PC I have all updated drivers for vista and I am using the serial to usb cable baud set equal at both speeds allowed it scans the com port but never communicates it just scrolls over it after a few seconds on to another com port. I am very computer savy what am I missing? I bought the data link kit you put out on xdp.

This tool will not autodetect on the DSDownloader.
Go to options and select legacy connection on the DSDL, then set the COM port and baud rates manually, then it will communicate no prob.
