I am going to add a 180* tstat and am wondering will I need to tweek the timing of the cooling fan to come on earlyer (at a cooler high temp) than stock and off at a cooler low temp.? I am assuming this can be done with the preditor 8r20 on a 2006 SRT8 magnum.

I am using the 93octane with CAI tune.

Have I made sence or am I confusedize?

Diablo has posted before that if you install a 180* t-stat, a good rule of thumb is to lower the fan temps the same difference accordingly. So, if you went from a 200* to a 180,* you'd lower all the fan temps by 20.* Correct me if I'm wrong on that, anyone.

I get different advice from different people.
Some say to adjust the fan temp. lower and others say that the Preditor is allready set for the 180* tstat and I need do nothing.
I have not yet installed the tstat and before I do I would like a Diablo Pro to tell me what is what. Do I get into the progamming and make an adjustment or is it allready set for the lower temperature?

They (Diablo) will chime in, but the answer is "yes" to both. The Predator was adjusted in earlier versions to lower fan temps to compliment the 180* t-stat. They (Diablo) have since changed that and returned the fan settings back to stock. If you're running r19, r20, or later versions; the fan temps are running at stock. So, if you have a 180* t-stat, you'd want to lower the fan settings. You can double check by looking in the fan settings when you modify the tune, prior to installing the tune.

I have heard that the SRT8 does not run as well (HP Loss) with the t-stat lowered to 180. Is this possible that the computer does not let it till the temp gets to factory spec?

Actually I understand that it is just the opposite. The car runs better.
Why would all these people be changing out the Tstat to a 180* just to have a worse running car?
The HP loss is due to the high heat of the stock set up not the new tstat mod.
I think the only thing that might be wrong with lowering the temp is an increase in emmissions. You might have to put in a stock tstat when goingin to get your state emmissions test done

Exactly. Once the temp gets above 180 heat soak becomes an issue. Best performance is between 160 and 180 degrees.

That should be close but the "180*" T-stat everyone usually gets (Motorad 4128) actually opens at 185*.

No. The T-stat will determine your lowest temperature. With the t-stat closed the coolant is not (for all intensive purposes) circulating through the radiator. The block (with or without air forced over it) will not exchange enough heat to cool the engine below the temperature your t-stat opens. With the Predator you can set the temp the fans come on. If it's set below the temperature your t-stat opens then the fans will run all the time and your temp will still match the t-stat.
