Difference between tune?

Post by ramair760 »

I just installed my new Diablo Programmer in my 07 Silverado. I noticed that I have two tune options (Preditor tune and 87 oct. tune), what is difference between these tunes?

Thanks in advance.

Predator tune is made for 93 octane gas. Don't use it unless you have a full tank of the good stuff. There are also changes to the timing. There is probably more than just that, I'm just learning this stuff too.

I was under the understanding the the "Diablo Tune" is an "at the limit" 91 tune, as a significant proportion of the country doesn't have 93 easily available.

Try 91, and monitor for KR. If you don't get any, you're OK. If you do, advance the timing until you don't, OR run 93.

Not trying to step over you CANCUCKPREDATOR, but I recall being told that by someone at DS.... ????

Think grumpy means for you to decrease timing until you dont get any KR.

No problem Grumpy, like I said, I'm learning. Any information you can provide makes me smarter too. :)

if you only have 2 tune choices, Diablo Tune and 87 tune, then the Diablo Tune for your application is made for 91 octane gas or higher...

for me, my diablo tune is made for 93 octane - since I also have a separate 91 octane tune available...

The DiabloSport Predator U7191 (w/a "Born" date of 08/29/2007) for my '06 GTO came with four (3+1) different tunes:
    *Diablo Tune
    *91 Oct Tune
    *Factory HP Tune
    *Original Backup
I sure would love to know what the differences between the top 3 tunes are.
Especially helpful would be some dyno graphs comparing each to the OEM tune.
I also would like to figure out if there is a depository for other tunes for my application,
Once I was told that there was a 87 Oct tune but I never got to find it!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

there is no 87 tune for our performance cars...

diablo tune is for 93 octane

    91 is for 91 octane

factory hp tune is used to make adjustments to your original/stock tune

difference is that the higher octane tunes have more aggressive air/fuel mapping and more advanced timing/spark advance.
