Post by jst98gtmustang »

Hi,i have an 98 gt mustang and when i go to load the tune,it starts to back up stock tune, dose it 2 times then says it can not back up stock tune, this can happen if you already have a tune installed in car. What is the deal with this? what can i do to fix it?? I have never install a tune on the car,not sure about who had the car before me,if they did or not.
Thanks for any help.

What revision is the Predator on?

(Go to the main menu and it will tell you on the very top line).

I am having the exact same problems with a 2001 lightning. Saved the base tune, then said "couldn't load tune" and now always says that it will try to re-load the stock tune when the predator is restarted. I completely removed the alarm off of the vehicle (the only aftermarket thing on it -- although I have programmed with Code alarms installed hundreds of times). I also had the Predator re-set and tried again with a brand new ecu from Ford. Exact same thing happens. Any answers to this one????

Oh yeah, my Predator is a U7158 w/ revision 8r10 and 8r11 -- can't upgrade these units as they lock up (to 9r01).

Thanks,

Ok, I actually fixed it! I could update the 8r11 predator to the new 9r01 revision b/c it was only a year old -- (straight off of a wd's shelf). The other one that is almost 2 years old (from the born on date, but still brand new) that has the 8r10 in it is completely useless with new Ford ecu revisions. Can I send it in to have the hardware updated so I can update it to 9r01, or is there going to be a new revision of the firmware soon?

So, short story... old revisions of firmware do not work with new Ford revisions. Predators that more than a year old cannot be updated due to old hardware -- is this true?

Thanks,
Mike
